About IDRS 2009

The International Double Reed Society’s annual conference provides an opportunity for artists, teachers, traders and audiences to celebrate the unique nature of double reed instruments. In 2009, the IDRS Conference will be held at Birmingham Conservatoire in Birmingham, England - the first IDRS Conference to be held in the UK for 20 years!

IDRS 2009 will be a five-day event, as ever, packed with celebrity concerts, recitals, masterclasses and workshops presented by leading international artists.

Concert venues include:

  • Symphony Hall – Birmingham’s magnificent 2,200-seat concert hall
  • Town Hall – a recently refurbished architectural gem which seats around 1000
  • Adrian Boult Hall – the Conservatoire’s largest concert venue, with 520 seats
  • Recital Hall – the Conservatoire’s 150-seat hall, suitable for recitals or performances with electronics
